What should I do if someone created deepfake nudes of me and I’m not 18?

⚠️Important:

If someone made or shared explicit images of you using AI (deepfakes) and you are under 18, it is illegal and considered child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in most countries, even if the images were created artificially. You are not in trouble, the person who made or shared them is.

🛑 Step 1: Do Not Engage With the Person

  • Do not reply to threats, messages, or blackmail.
  • Take screenshots of any messages or accounts that are harassing or threatening you.
  • This may be important evidence.

📸 Step 2: Save the Evidence (Privately)

Save the following:

  • URLs of the fake image(s)
  • Screenshots of where it’s posted or shared
  • The profile or username of the person who shared it
  • Time and date of discovery

Important: Store this evidence safely and do not share it with anyone except trusted adults, police, or legal help.

🧑‍🎓 Step 3: Tell a Trusted Adult Immediately

It’s crucial to tell a trusted adult immediately. This could be a parent, guardian, school counselor, principal, a teacher you trust, or any adult who can support you. They can help you report the incident to the proper authorities, ensure your safety, and guide you through the next steps to get the content removed and hold the responsible person accountable.

👮 Step 4: Report to Law Enforcement

Go to your local police station or cybercrime unit and file a complaint.

If you’re in the U.S.:

  • Contact your local non-emergency police line or visit their cybercrime reporting page.
  • You can also report to NCMEC (National Center for Missing & Exploited Children) at https://report.cybertip.org

If you’re in Canada:

  • Report to Cybertip.ca (Canada’s national tipline for online child exploitation) at https://www.cybertip.ca.
  • You can also contact your local police or the RCMP cybercrime unit.

If you’re in the EU:

  • Use https://www.inhope.org to find your country’s official hotline (most EU nations have a reporting portal for CSAM).
  • You can also contact your country’s Data Protection Authority or law enforcement for immediate action.

If you’re in India:

  • Go to https://cybercrime.gov.in/ and select “Report Child Pornography” or “Report Other Cybercrime”.
  • Yes, you can file anonymously if needed.

🧵 Step 5: Report to the Platform Where the Image Was Posted

Whether the image was shared on Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, Discord, or any website, do the following:

  • Go to the post or profile where it was shared.
  • Tap “Report” and select the option in the dropdown that refers to sexual exploitation, image abuse, or non-consensual content.
  • Most major platforms have a zero-tolerance policy for AI-generated CSAM and will remove it quickly.

Here are a few direct links:

🧼 Step 6: Request Removal from Search Engines and Other Sites

You can request takedowns from:

  • For Google: Submit a request using the Google Removal Form. Select the option for “Personal explicit images shared without consent” or “Involuntary deepfake pornography.”
  • For Bing (Microsoft): Use the Microsoft Content Removal Tool. Choose “Privacy concern” and follow the steps related to non-consensual explicit content.
  • For Other websites: Visit the platform’s Help Center or Report/Contact page. Tap “Report” and choose the option related to sexual exploitation, image abuse, or non-consensual content.

⚖️ Step 7: Consider Legal Help

If the person responsible is known and especially if they are threatening or blackmailing you or your family members. You can contact a cybercrime lawyer and consider filing a restraining order or starting legal action for harassment or child abuse. In some countries, free legal aid is also available for minors to help with these processes.

💙 Step 8: Take Care of Yourself

What happened to you is not your fault. Experiencing something like this can be emotionally overwhelming, so it’s important to take care of your mental health. Talk to a counselor or therapist if you can, and make use of school mental health services or local support organizations. Surround yourself with people who care about you and can offer support during this difficult time.
